Greetings! I am an academic from the United States who researches aspects of female “monstrosity” in both 19th-century British literature and 17th-century American history. While I specialize in these fields, my interests also include the Gothic, penny publications, the environment in literature, medical humanities, horror literature and cinema, and photography.
I am currently editing an anthology with Sophie Raine from Lancaster University. Our forthcoming project, Penny Dreadfuls and the Gothic, is an edited collection that examines penny blood and dreadful novels of the 19th century. My other forthcoming literary work, Nature and Monstrous Women in the Victorian Gothic Fiction, 1837-1871, is currently slated publication with Lexington Books for 2022.
